Dael Orlandersmith is an actor, writer, finalist for the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for her play Yellowman, and recipient of both the Susan Smith Blackburn award and the Guggenheim. In 2016, the St. Louis Repertory Theatre commissioned Ms. Orlandersmith's Until the Flood, a play about the Michael Brown shooting. Until the Flood was premiered by the St. Louis Repertory Theatre in 2016, performed at the Rattlestick Theatre in 2017, at the Milwaukee Repertory and Goodman Theatres in 2018, and in 2019 is expected at Portland Center Stage, Galway Arts in Ireland, the Traverse in Scotland, and the Arcola Theater in London. Ms. Orlandersmith is currently working on three play commissions.
