Amanda Edwards, Curator of the Doss Heritage and Cultural Center (Weatherford, TX) and George Dansker, Mary Martin historian, will present a program on the life of Mary Martin from her earliest years as a dance teacher (and Hollywood hopeful) to her legendary career as one of the first ladies of the American Musical Theatre. Using unpublished letters, rare documents, photographs of her early life, seldom-seen live performance photographs, (The Sound of Music, South Pacific, and Peter Pan), and even samples of her famous needlepoint, our audiences will understand and appreciate this First Lady of the American Musical as never before.
