Mental health issues affect Muggles every day, but what about people of the wizarding world? If Harry and his friends had received therapy at Hogwarts, how might things be different? What about Hagrid, and others released from Azkaban after experiencing frequent visits from dementors? We know Lockhart and the Longbottoms ended up in St. Mungo’s for life, but could there be another option for them? And Lord Voldemort—what might have happened to create such an evil wizard? In this session, we'll discuss both the canon and hypothetical ways in which characters' mental health might have impacted the series, especially during a generation of war. Come join us to see how our favorite characters might be diagnosed and treated, what impact their mental health had on how the series progressed, and how magical mental health services could look both inside Hogwarts and out.
