The legal system in the Wizarding World is built on regulatory might and the threat of severe punishment. Young people are prohibited from doing magic outside school. All people are prohibited from making their presence known to Muggles, and live under constant regulations governing animals, Apparition, etc. The Ministry enforces its decrees with varying levels of punishment, including the threat of time in Azkaban or even a fate worse than death at the hands of Dementors! This discussion will examine the Wizarding legal system, and attempt to answer whether such a system can be considered “just.”
