The magical world J.K. Rowling created in the Harry Potter novels has some of the same issues as the Muggle world, issues such as poverty, war, and prejudice. Throughout the seven novels, Harry is exposed to repeated examples of bigotry and prejudice in the wizarding world toward both humans and creatures. This presentation will explore the social commentary related to this issue that is found throughout the series, as well as the stages of growth Harry displays as he deals with the issue of bigotry.
