As readers, we have traveled through the Harry Potter series via the point of view of an eleven (+) year old. Given that anyone who has been (or who has parented) an adolescent/teen knows how oft-misshapen the lens through with the world is seen at that age--even without the added complications of contradictory and incomplete information--we recognize that our perception of the characters, especially the adult characters (and of those, especially Professor Severus Snape) is distorted as a result.
