Academic
When:
2:00 PM, Saturday 23 May 2009 EDT (1 hour 30 minutes)
Where:
Boston Park Plaza - White Hill, 4th Floor
Organized in a formal discussion, this program will follow the style of certain Model United Nations conferences. Everyone who participates will be assigned a Harry Potter character to represent, including characters from Albus Dumbledore to Xenophilius Lovegood. Either alone, in pairs, or in groups of three, participants will be responsible for representing the opinions of their character, whether or not they personally share the same views. The debate will be based on information found in the books, though will also involve making inferences about how the characters would think about the discussion at hand. The debate will be on the topic of "How to Deal with Death Eaters After the War," and will involve participants being actively involved in voicing their opinions and working with allies to achieve a common vote. There will ultimately be a vote that will lead to one or more written resolutions being passed by the entire body.
