From the moment he first uttered “honestly woman and you call yourself our mother”, Fred Weasley was marked to die by the end of the Harry Potter series. For seven books, Fred and George brought comic relief to tenses of situations; they were two of Harry’s truest friends who could always bring out a smile. They were the first students to offer Harry kindness on Platform 9 3⁄4 and were an integral part of Harry’s success at Hogwarts, including giving him the Marauder’s Map which played an important role in his hero’s journey. Which makes me ask the question; if a Weasley had to die – why Fred?
