Theme:
Formal Programming
What:
Lecture
When:
3:00 PM, Friday 15 Jul 2011 EDT (50 minutes)
Where:
Vera Lee will begin by discussing such issues as: 1. Do the Harry Potter films add positively to the reading experience? If so, in what ways is the reading enhanced by the movies? 2. Do the actors fulfill the challenge of “becoming” the original characters? 3. Does one have to be a fan to enjoy–and understand–the movies fully? 4. What are the minuses of transposing the Harry Potter books to the screen? 5. Do the films betray the original text and if so, how. It will be followed by a discussion between Lee and the audience, in which she will be happy to answer questions and hear comments on the subject.
