This session will focus on a discussion of the content and reaction to the variety of college courses that use Rowling’s novels and related resources to teach academic content. Participants will examine the integration of Harry Potter in the curricula at many colleges, and the ways that Potter-related materials have been integrated in core or interdisciplinary courses and/or marginalized as “fluff” courses. The hope is that individuals can use this information to advocate for the benefits of using Potter- related materials in their own settings, and prepare for potential challenges and obstacles that may arise.
