PureBlood families exist for many reasons, but keeping wealth and bloodlines (race) pure are essential to their motives. This phenomenon is not new, and it is not extinct in the modern world either. This lecture will explore Levi-Strauss' concept of kinship structures and marriage and how they relate directly to the wizarding world. Marriage by choice and arranged marriage will be discussed, as well as the reasons for keeping bloodlines pure, wealth pure, and how advantageous marriage can be.
