Cordelia Chase is one of the most fascinating characters of the Buffyverse. She goes from the stereotypically mean cheerleader in Buffy the Vampire Slayer to a beloved friend and hero on Angel. Then, in season four of Angel, the show began to play to a well-worn science fiction trope. This plot choice changed the character and had wider cultural implications that deserve to be discussed.
