Early LGBTQIA+ representation in YA included stories about questioning or coming out that were challenged in libraries and difficult to find in bookstores. We could maybe find a sidekick whose love life was ancillary to the plot. Slowly but surely, we've been able to fall in love with increasingly straightforward romances that allow teens to see their stories represented. These panelists will examine the history of LGBTQIA+ YA history and envision its future.
