
Dr. Rocky Dailey is currently an associate professor in the School of Communication and Journalism at South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota. He teaches and advises in the online graduate program and the Honors College. Dr. Dailey earned his Doctorate in Education from Montana State University and his Masters in Journalism from the University of Memphis. His academic career includes serving as an assistant professor in the School of Mass Communications at Virginia Commonwealth University and an adjunct instructor at Grand Valley State University and Montana State University-Billings. Dr. Dailey earned his bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University in Broadcast Journalism and has worked as a journalist in broadcast, print and online mediums during his career. His professional career began at KSFY-TV in Sioux Falls, S.Dak., as a videographer before moving on to WHBQ in Memphis, Tenn., in the same role. From there, Dr. Dailey moved into a chief photojournalist role at the start-up news division at WDSI-TV in Chattanooga, Tenn. and then on to the same role at WXMI-TV in Grand Rapids, Mich. His most recent professional work in communication came as the online reporter for the Billings Gazette and as the media relations coordinator for HRDC Community Action Agency in Billings, Mont.
