As Senior Director, CBYX and University Partnerships, Dr. Daniel Villanueva coordinates the team selecting and preparing American CBYX for Young Professionals participants for their year abroad as well as the services provided to German CBYX participants in the USA. He also develops and sustains contacts with U.S. institutions of higher education in support of mutually-beneficial partnerships for students and faculty. He joined Cultural Vistas after two decades in higher education as German professor, Honors administrator, and grants coordinator at UNLV, UNR and the Nevada Board of Regents administrative office.

Daniel began his citizen-diplomat experience in high school with the German American Partnership Program (GAPP). As part of his academic and professional training, he returned often to Germany and Austria for study, research, and internships and has since mentored countless students stateside as a former CBYX college coordinator and scholarships advisor. He is also a recipient of the German-American Friendship Award for sustained efforts in transatlantic activities.

Daniel holds a B.A. in German and International Relations (American University) and an M.A. and Ph.D. in German Studies (Duke University). He is author and translator of scholarly works in his research fields of language pedagogy,  German Studies, and Honors education. Professional affiliations include the National Collegiate Honors Council, National Association of Fellowships Advisors, and American Association of Teachers of German. He currently serves as Chair of the American Bundestag Network and First Vice President of the German-American Heritage Foundation of the USA.
