François G. Amar is Dean of the Honors College and Professor of Chemistry at the University of Maine. His chemistry research interests are in theoretical chemistry of clusters and nanomaterials, catalytic upgrading of biofuels, and metal cluster dynamics. He has also worked in chemistry education, most recently on the role of gesture as a resource in teaching and explaining chemical concepts. Particular interests in Honors include fostering living-learning communities, collaborative models of research, and development of international exchanges between institutions.
