This research uses the CRISPR Cas-9 system on C. elegans suffering from a blistered cuticle, which is comparable to burns, severe wounds, and skin conditions found in humans. The CRISPR Cas-9 treatment will increase collagen production and molting rate of the damaged cuticle, creating an effective and undisturbed cuticle.
