Although there are many ways to study student success and well-being, the expectancy-value-cost model of motivation effectively synthesizes honors mindsets and is easily understandable. We propose that this framework plays an important role in determining student outcomes and offers ideas on how understanding mindsets and student motivation inform honors advising.
