Ohayocon Maker Lab

The Crafterspace, located in Marion on the Hyatt 2nd Floor, is our workshop room that combines conventional crafting with Makerspace sensibilities. You can enjoy a wide array of creative hands-on workshops with some offering take home items.

The Maker Lab is a new programming track and studio designed to introduce the convention community to new technologies. The Crafterspace is outfitted with two 3D printers that are available for use during open lab hours; an attendant is available to guide beginners. On display are models made by local tech enthusiasts and hosts of some of our tech workshops. Please respect the models by not touching them!

Update: Lab 3D printers are currently unable to make prints due to a filament issue, but the lab is still open, printing interface software is available to demo, see the guts of a 3D printer, and take a look at our models (and a battle bot)!

New events part of our Maker Lab track are:

  • Intro to 3D Printing: Software & Hardware
  • Get Started in Combat Robotics
  • Advanced 3D Printing
  • Incorporating Electronics into Cosplay
  • MakerCulture: 3D Printing in Geek Culture
  • Star Wars: Building Droids
