Hello fellow parent or guardian! Thank you so much for bringing your fledgling geek to Ohayocon, we love seeing enthusiastic young faces join and further the communities that started in the 80s and 90s. Please use these FAQs and useful bits to help make your stay more enjoyable.

*Please keep in mind that children 13 and under must be accompanied by a chaperone at all times. 


What is anime?
Anime is the term Westerners use for Japanese animation, which has unique storytelling and design, a long history, and a huge following worldwide. Ohayocon mostly caters to the anime fan but our open-minded community welcomes fandoms from other genres as well.
What is cosplay and why is my kid obsessed with it?
Cosplay (a portmanteu of costume and play) is a culture that takes the cake at fandom conventions. People love being able to dress as their favorite characters and meet new people because of it. Conventions are a place where people can wear unusual clothes and be appreciated for their unique interests, it's the most popular way to show your interests.
Can I bring my underage child into an 18+ panel if I accompany them?
No, adult panels are not appropriate for those who aren't yet legal and we cannot make exceptions.
Where can I go if I'm concerned about my or my child's safety or I can't find them?
Please go to Security, located on the Hyatt 2nd Floor in Clark, and file a report with a security staffer who can initiate protocols for those situations.
