Prof. James Miller is an Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Environmental Design at OCAD University in Toronto and a practicing architect. A Kanaka Maoli, Miller is especially interested in the application of Indigenous Knowledge in creating resilient built-environment, even through resettlement. For the past decade, Prof. Miller has done extensive research on the role of traditional and Indigenous knowledge in the design of the built-environment and its role in assisting community wellbeing through resettlement. His current research examines how climate displaced communities can reconnect to a sense of place when removed from their ancestral homes.
