This fun, hands-on workshop will examine four of the
most common romantic tropes in YA:
- Good
girl falls for bad boy
- The
love triangle
- The
girl/boy next door
- The
forbidden love
In doing so, participants will respond to questions
such as: What makes these tropes so common in YA? Why do readers enjoy them?
What do readers find frustrating about these tropes? How can writers bring a
fresh and engaging approach to romance in YA by subverting existing tropes?
