Irene Fitzsimmons is a graduate of University of Alberta (BA Hon Psychology); Grant McEwan (Conflict Management).

Spent 24 years working in community development in Edmonton’s inner city and Indigenous communities with marginalized youth, focusing locally, provincially and nationally on mediating issues surrounding: addictions, housing, health, education/employment, justice, and high-risk behaviour connected to street-involvement (HIV, Sexual Exploitation). Moving to the Athabasca area, worked with the RCMP Victim Services Unit and currently with the Community Action for Healthy Relationships (CAHR) Network, working to develop local CCR models for Elder Abuse in Athabasca, Barrhead and Westlock.
