Dr. Darryl Rolfson - Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry

Dr. Rolfson is a full professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine, University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He obtained a BSc (1989), MD (1993), FRCPC in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine (2000). His academic interests have included medical education and frailty.

In medical education, he is distinguished for bedside and classroom teaching excellence, having received both undergraduate and residency level awards. He has served as the program director in Internal Medicine and Assistant Chair, Postgraduate Medical Education for a period of ten years (2008 to 2017).

His primary career interest has been in the measurement of frailty. He developed and validated the Edmonton Frail Scale (published in 2006), and have participated in the implementation of frailty criteria in clinical settings since that time.
