Michael joined the Intrepid School & Teacher Programs team in August 2017, but he actually came to Intrepid as a volunteer in 2015. With twelve years of service in elementary public education in Texas, he has worked as a bilingual teacher and school counselor before moving to New York. He has served as the chairperson on the science fair committee in elementary schools, helping emphasize the importance of science education. In New York, Michael has worked both as a tour guide and freelancer in environmental education with NYC H2O, taught history and science programs at the Morris-Jumel Mansion and South Street Seaport Museum, and increased programming for English Language Learners and individuals with vision loss through tailored curriculum for those audiences of all ages. At Intrepid, Michael’s role is developing educational content for English Language Learners, providing Spanish support, working with off-site partners, and managing continuing education regulations for teacher programs. Michael is fluent in Spanish, having studied in Buenos Aires, Argentina during his undergraduate studies at the University of Buenos Aires. He holds a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Education in School Counseling from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
