Fiona was fascinated with languages, even as a small child. Frustrated with the lack of foreign languages to learn in her small Montanan hometown, she did the only sensible thing: taught herself Sindarin (Elvish from Middle-earth). Now she's got a degree in linguistics, speaks to varying degrees of fluency 6 languages, and has written a reference grammar for her first linguistic love: "A Fan's Guide to Neo-Sindarin" and runs a popular Tolkien-language phrasebook and namelist website, Realelvish.net. Through her website, she's handled translation thousands of requests from fanfiction to original fantasy novels to tattoos to baby-names, and even helped with the Japanese edition of The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition movie extras.
