Dungeons and Dragons has evolved from a table top game played privately, on through MMORPGs, and now has a new face, as performed entertainment by teams like Geek and Sundry, who produce Critical Role, among other shows.

Has this changed the kinds of adventures that are being explored? Are we still looking for trouble in taverns and falling down cliffs, or has the changing format allowed for more complex narratives and characterisation? Is this good, or are we nostalgic for evenings of deep team incompetence and pizza?
