In 2004 Walt Disney Animation was in ruins: its films were losing the studio money, competitors had sprung up and overtaken them at the box office and with the critics, and a string of failed projects left many questioning whether there was a future for Disney animation at all.
A decade later Frozen was the highest-grossing animated feature film of all time, having grossed more than $1.2 billion worldwide.
