Root Causes of Hormone Imbalance

Hormonal balance is at the heart of every woman’s health and wellbeing. Hormonal imbalances can lead to a huge variety of uncomfortable symptoms and pathological syndromes including irregular menses, painful periods, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, acne, sleeping difficulties, mood disorders and metabolic problems like weight gain and blood sugar imbalances. All of these issues can be exacerbated by oral contraceptive use and at menopause. How do we support a woman through the process of getting hormones back on track in order to power up vitality and sustain optimal health? It begins with understanding key aspects of hormone physiology and key aspects of each woman’s biochemical individuality. This lecture will briefly outline 4 basic root causes of hormone imbalance and what to do to address them without using hormone therapy

Integrative Oncology

Integrative Strategies for Cancer: Medical Herbal Strategies for Integrative Cancer Therapy
Cancer is not a simple disease. It is a group of many diseases all characterized by uncontrolled growth and spread of aberrant cells. For cancer to occur it takes several mutations to happen to a single cell before it can become a cancer cell. In this lecture we will study the aberrant cell and how individual herbal therapies can target these cells. Also discussed will be integrative strategies to treat as well as reduce side effects from conventional chemotherapeutic & radiation therapies, currently used in cancer treatment. This is a fast paced lecture at the advanced level where we will discuss the underlying cause and development of cancer, genetics, epigenetics and therapeutic strategies at every level of our interventional strategies.

Compounded Prescriptions in Clinical Practice

Low dose naltrexone is a drug historically known for treating people with addiction or in opioid overdose. However, over the last few decades this drug has been found to have profound benefits in a multitude of chronic diseases, from rheumatoid arthritis to Crohn's disease to depression. This presentation will highlight the uses of LDN in primary care, the data available, and what we know about the mechanism of action.
Women's Mid-Life Sexual Health

Women’s reproductive and sexual health begins to change in their 40s as their hormone patterns shift approaching menopause. With menopause a new hormonal milieu emerges.

This presentation will address the physical changes to the genital urinary tract, vulvovaginal environment, and peri-menopausal/ menopausal symptoms that affect women’s sexual vitality. Botanical formulas, nutrients, hormonal and pelvic physical therapies will be discussed.
Popular media and medical convention portrays these sexual changes in mid-life women and men , as sexual dysfunction. Instead, I invite participants to regard these natural life transitions as a new erotic frontier.
The Thin Diabetic: Why Medicine Fails Type 2 Diabetes & What To Do About It

Doctors routinely recommend treatment protocols for type 2 diabetes and prediabetes based upon glycemic data points that inaccurately reflect both the patient’s condition and solution. Furthermore, obesity bias prevents medical providers from understanding those individuals in the 39% of type 2 diabetics who are normal to lean body fat.

High blood sugar doesn’t properly define type 2. And the medical fixation on blood sugar steers providers away from a meaningful cure and toward common medications that can make the real problem of insulin resistance worse. The ancestral narrative of type 2 empowers practitioners and patients to find the effective, long-term diet, fitness and nutritional environment that brings meaningful health and longevity.

Clinical Anecdotes: What Works!

Guaranteed to be the most fun you will have at this conference! This is an interactive and informal session that allows NDs to share their successful treatment protocols as well as to ask other NDs for help with cases where guidance is needed. This session is open for any topics you would typically encounter in a general practice. In addition I will also present my “Case of the Year” and “Research Article of the Year”, and give a prize to the attendee who answers the mystery question during the middle of the session. We'll have some fun while learning useful stuff!
