Are dumpers so bad, agencies greedy and translator tools a rip-off?

There are some "hot" topics that seem to arise quite often in the discussions among translators, interpreters, agencies, etc. For example, these are dumpers, including unfair tenders, translators and interpreters being „used” by translation agencies, necessity of switching to technology from traditional translation methods and related costs, and low rates, to name a few. Regardless of whether such discussion takes place during a conference or online it always becomes emotional and often leads to only minor or no changes in practice or even attitudes.

How about trying out a different approach? I’d like to provide some arguments to show you that I do not (at least not entirely) sympathize with these common statements and then invite you to (hopefully) fruitful discussion skipping the "grumbling part" and focusing on positives and arguments, more rational than emotional ones.
