Derwin Mak is a writer and editor from Toronto, Canada. His short story "Transubstantiation" won an Aurora Award for Best Short Fiction (Canadian award). He and Eric Choi co-edited The Dragon and the Stars (DAW, 2010), the first anthology of science fiction and fantasy by overseas Chinese; it won an Aurora Award for Best Related Work. He and Lucas Law edited Where the Stars Rise (Laksa Media, 2017), an anthology of Asian science fiction and fantasy. His stories, especially the two novels The Moon Under Her Feet and The Shrine of the Siren Stone, often involve religious themes, especially Catholic, Buddhist, and Shinto. Derwin is also a cosplayer/costumer and was the first masquerade director of Anime North in Toronto.
