Kathryn is an expert on accelerating technologies and how they empower teams to create world-changing ideas.  A life-long SF&F reader, she uses SF-based toolkits such as Science Fiction Design workshops to help people imagine near-term change. She sits on advisory boards including several startups and the tech-policy non-profit ADA-AI, and volunteers on climate projects (FutureEarth.org) and science education (Humanity Needs Dreamers). Her talks and workshops cover synthesis & foresight, the power of the beginner and effective interdisciplinary teams, and the complex factors affecting the future of jobs --economic climate change.

A founding team member, staff, and faculty at Singularity University, she helped build their innovative programs and curriculum and became the track chair for Synthesis & Convergence. Her research was featured in Ray Kurzweil's The Singularity is Near (2005) and Peter Diamandis & Steven Kotler's Abundance (2012).
