Eric Schwitzgebel is a professor of philosophy at University of California, Riverside, and a co-operating member of UCR's program in Speculative Fiction and Cultures of Science.  (Yes, you can get a PhD in speculative fiction at UCR!) He has published both fiction and non-fiction, including two books on psychology and philosophy with MIT Press. In both his fiction and non-fiction he explores the nature of human, robot, and alien consciousness; the ethics of technology, including the question of “robot rights”; radically skeptical radical cosmological possibilities, such as the possibility that we are living in a computer simulation; and the moral behavior of professional ethicists.  He discusses all these topics and more at his blog, The Splintered Mind.
