Norman Sperling began as an amateur astronomer, at age 9. Since then, he has been a planetarium director, a telescope designer, an assistant editor of Sky & Telescope magazine, and taught college astronomy courses. He has an MA in History of Science, from UC Berkeley. He is a long-time member of Bay Area Skeptics (anti-pseudoscience), and served on the Board. He is the editor of The Journal of Irreproducible Results, the science humor magazine.  Norman is currently attempting to finish a steampunk astronomy novel, asking how Harvard Observatory's lady computers would repel the comet that was going to hit Tunguska if they discovered it early enough.
