In a world of social justice warriors, Tim Griffin is a social justice bard. After teaching STEM for (mumble mumble) years in Los Angeles, Tim gave up his tenure to found GriffinEd, a small nonprofit dedicated to raising academic achievement through fun educational music. Think “Schoolhouse Filk” and you’ll have the basic idea: fun, goofy songs that teach the key concepts and vocabulary kids need for success at school. Along the way, Tim has won some awards as a songwriter, performer, and storyteller; brought great hilarity and edification to national gatherings of the AAAS, NSTA, CSTA, and other academic organizations; entertained at dozens of sci-fi cons and hundreds of schools; been named twice by the Annenberg Foundation to their Alchemy Lab for leaders of nonprofits showing exceptional promise for societal change; and published four albums of (mostly) educational music, with a fifth coming Real Soon Now. Most of Tim’s music is available free online at GriffinEd’s library of teaching songs, which is searchable by grade level and subject at www.GriffinEd.org
