Gonzalo Munevar has a Ph.D. in philosophy of science from U.C. Berkeley, although for the last 10 years he has been working in neuroscience mostly. He has published 7 academic books about science and 2 novels, as well as short stories and poetry. Many years ago, while a visiting professor at Stanford, he spent a lot of time at the NASA Ames Research Center in preparation to write about space science. Since then he has published many journal articles and book chapters on topics such as the proposed exploration of the galaxy with self-reproducing machines, the scientific value of astrobiology, space physics as basic science, the role of CO2 in planetary atmospheres, space exploration and human survival, space colonies, and the overall justification of space exploration. At the present he is completing a book titled The Dimming of Starlight: The Philosophy of Space Exploration.
