Kelsey Olesen writes fantasy stories for young adult audiences focusing on retelling fairy tales, revamping fantasy tropes, and restructuring traditional gender roles. Her scholarly work looks at the representation of women in fantasy novels and fairy-tale retellings. She is interested in the line between adulthood and childhood, fantasy and history, power and subservience. Kelsey has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from the Stonecoast Program at the University of Southern Maine. She is currently applying to PhD programs to further her critical studies. Kelsey aims to become a professor of Creative Writing and English with a focus on fantastical fiction for adolescent readers.
