The proud son of “vato loco,” Jesse Ramírez grew up on the east side of San José, California. He holds a BA in English from Santa Clara University, and an MA, MPhil, and PhD in American Studies from Yale University. Since 2016, he has been Assistant Professor of American Studies at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, where he teaches courses on American culture, sf included. Jesse has published articles on Alex Rivera’s sf film Sleep Dealer, Philip K. Dick, Ursula Le Guin, and George Stewart’s Earth Abides. He’s current finishing a book called Un-American Dreams: Apocalyptic Science Fiction and Bad Hope in the American Century.
