Participates in 1 Session
A recent Master's of Science graduate of The New School of Media Studies, in Media Management, Rick Canfield has an extensive creative and technical background that includes work in the film, TV, and video game industries (making appearances on shows such as HBO’s “The Leftovers” and AMC’s “The Son” as a background actor). He has produced video and VR content at festivals such as SXSW, PAX South, and the Marfa Film Festival. Freelancing in digital art, he studied Master Classes at Gnomon.

As a media content strategist from Southwest Texas, he uses market research to write about the impact and potential of digital technologies in the age of the Anthropocene. He has worked on unique digital branded projects with teams around the world using lean startup methodologies; ranging from aerospace training prototypes to promotional virtual worlds.

Being his inaugural visit to Worldcon, thanks to twice Hugo Award winning-illustrator John Picacio’s “Mexicanx Initiative”, he is excited to connect with the greater SF community. Rick is currently writing inclusive science fiction and science fantasy stories inspired by emerging technologies (A.I., Machine Learning, and Blockchain) and the anthropology of media.
