James Bacon is a comic, science fiction, star wars and fanzine fan. From Dublin, Ireland, now living in London, working as a Train Driver Instructor and assessor at Paddington, James is the Chair of Dublin 2019 An Irish Worldcon, and edits the Hugo winning fanzine, Journey Planet, a fanzine that is themed for enjoyment and pleasure and covers a multitude of interests and is a finalist at this years Hugo's. Recent Journey Planet issues have covered Disney, Star Wars, 40 years of Glasgow Conventions, Disney Railroads and an issue celebrating one time Dublin resident, Steve Dillon who passed away, and looking at Irish Comic History, which just won the European Science Fiction Society Best Fanzine Award (2017), on the 21st July this year.

An occasional writer for Forbidden Planet, with over 100 blog posts published (forbiddenplanet.blog/author/james-bacon/), James especially enjoys comic art exhibitions and science fictional plays and performances, his other interests include Irish military history, war comics, railways in conflict, using fountain pens, typing with a typewriter and posting actual post. Favourite authors include Robin Hobb, Hunter S. Thompson and Flann O'Brien. James likes to spend time in comic and book shops, and while in San Jose, will be visiting Illusive Comics, Feldman's and Recycle Books, as well as Savers, where he buys all his clothes(seriously). James uses fanzines as an escape hobby and away from fan stuff, he likes swimming with sharks and has taken up Acro-Yoga.
