Russian science fiction remains popular, and two relatively recent novels reflect the dystopia of civilization's collapse, both suggesting that Russia is condemned to repeat the mistakes of the past.  In contrast, Western dystopias tend to focus on economic inequality and environmental degradation.  Can we find similarities?  What can they tell us about the function of the post-disaster dystopia in the 21st century?
