The end of the 20th century saw an increasing popular interest in ethical non-monogamous relationships.  But decades before there were television shows, news articles, and non-fiction books on the topic, there was Heinlein.  From Stranger in a Strange Land in 1961 through To Sail Beyond the Sunset in 1988, he openly questioned mononormativity, often with his "Listen to me, don't listen to anyone" style of social critique.

The presentation will explicate mononormativity as a theory for critical analysis of science fiction.
