This panel features two academic papers that take a longview toward SF's influence on the larger culture.  Lombardo's paper provides an overview of concepts in his upcoming book on SF and "evolutionary mythology."  Olesen's paper, "Women in Magical History...," examines representations of women in fantasy works based on the historical British regency era, specifically novels by Mary Robinette Kowal, Suzanne Clarke, and Zen Cho.
