Having links to the world always at your fingertips is great, except when you'd rather not.  Not having a cellphone is increasingly awkward, and having one means you're supposed to be reachable all the time.  People react with incredulity if you tell them that you won't be reading email during your vacation.  Even at home, when the phone rings, we're conditioned to run to answer it.  Is mandatory connectivity inevitable, and if not, how can we fend it off when we want some quiet time?
