Richard Cross
Adjunct Professor - Computer Science
Richard has been an SF fan from an early age growing up watching Star Trek and live broadcasts of the lunar landings. Aware of SF conventions through the pulps and StarLog, he finally had his chance to go to his first convention in 1977 when he attended Archon 1. This led to many years of costuming, parades, and epic parties. He was also one of the crew who setup the "Firehouse" and hosted a few small parties. Richard then moved to Hollywood and worked in special effects doing space ships and motion control.
Along with his friends J.D Street, Tom Seymour, and Ted Smith, Richard was a Fan Guest of Honor at Archon 17.
These days he teaches Computer Science at Cal State LA and is doing his best to introduce students to SF, as well as providing them the skills and direction to develop robotics and AI tech that will help humans to evolve into a new cybernetic form - or destroy us all. He's not going to judge, it's on them.
