Culture and Society, Through Sci-Fi Glasses

Themes:
GOHGeneral
What:
Panel
When:
2:00 PM, Saturday 13 Oct 2018 (1 hour)
Where:
DoubleTree - Collinsville - Madison C & D
How:
We do not live in the era when the Skylark series was written, nor in the Golden Age, the Cyberpunk Era, nor many others. As culture and social mores have changed, our ideas about what the future will look like also have changed. This panel will discuss how authors of different eras portrayed the future as they understood it and all the many ways that their visions seem quaint and funny now (for instance, smoking indoors or at work; reading paper newspapers on a space station; searching for a phone booth, and more).
