As paranormal and urban fantasies have become more popular, writers have dipped into multiple cultures in order to make their stories different from the same old vamps and werewolves. What mythos are most compatible and when does it become too much of a stretch?

For years, fandom worried about where the next generation of fans would come from as convention committees and attendees grew older. Now that geeks have been mainstreamed, is it still an issue? Is the wave of younger fans anxious to pick up the load and run the cons and clubs in the future?
