Robert J. David
Robert J. David is Professor and Desautels Faculty Scholar at the Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University. He serves as Academic Director (Research) for the Faculty. For the last 20 or so years, Robert has advocated for and contributed to an institutional-theory approach to entrepreneurship. His current research interests center on the emergence and evolution of new market categories. With co-authors and doctoral students, he is studying various markets for local food. He is particularly excited about projects on Quebec wineries, Ontario farmers’ markets, and urban agriculture in Detroit. Robert’s published work appears in Organization Science, Academy of Management Journal, and Administrative Science Quarterly, among other leading journals. Most recently, he co-edited a special issue on “Categories and Place” in Strategic Organization, which highlights the role of local institutions, identities, and social movements in the study of markets.
