Presentation title: Current Challenges in EDI Management and Research in Canada, by Wendy Cukier

Abstract: Rapid change, post-pandemic economic recovery, the challenges posed by new and disruptive technologies, the complexities of a transition to a net-zero economy, and demographic pressures of an aging population: these are some of the contextual factors shaping the building of a more inclusive economy. Solutions and innovations in skills training, employment, leadership, and entrepreneurship that will support our economy and the enterprises driving economic growth will have to rest on the advancement of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). This presentation will explore some of the current challenges organizations and enterprises (especially SMEs) in different sectors face in making robust diversity and inclusion initiatives a reality. It will also present research, innovative programming, and tools that center employers’ needs, help build more inclusive organizations, and promote the inclusion of a wide range of equity-deserving groups in the skills development and employment ecosystem.
