Shining light on ai: A Symposium on the use of Artificial Intelligence in Post-Secondary Education.

Author(s)/Auteur(s): Kristene Coller (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology), Terrance Weatherbee (Acadia University), Sonja Johnston (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology), Donna Sears (Acadia University), Nicholous Deal (Mount Saint Vincent University) & Blake Kanewischer (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology)

The rapid and widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI), and particularly large language models such as ChatGPT has meant that post-secondary institutions are still in a reactive mode in terms of its use in higher education. Therefore, it is increasingly critical for faculty to understand the AI landscape and its implications for teaching and research. By surfacing contemporary AI trends in Canadian higher education, this symposium aims to address pedagogy, productivity, policy, academic integrity and extend discussions that were started at the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) in 2023. The panel will address participant questions related to the use of artificial intelligence in post-secondary institutions.
